The Run Project was created to establish a sense of community amongst runners throughout the world by asking thought-provoking questions about the sport of running and how it’s making a difference in their lives, their communities and their countries.

At the onset of The Run Project’s creation we wanted to explore the reasons why people around the world run. We think that it is a healthy exercise to ask ourselves “Why do I run?” so that we remind ourselves of the reasons why we take on this challenge. As important as it is to find a reason to start running, it is equally important to remind ourselves of what motivates us to run. Hopefully we can even discover new reasons along the way!

By having runners from all over the world share their reasons for running we can establish deeper, common threads that connect the running community. Exploring others’ reasons for running and perhaps discovering that your reason for running is shared by others regardless of age, ethnicity, nationality, or gender makes you aware that you are not alone in your journey as a runner.

We hope you enjoy the stories on this site. We hope you never give up on yourself or your dreams. And we hope you never forget why you run.
